Immigration, the Environment & the Election

The fundamental fact is that for every person added to the U.S. population one acre of precious farmland (i.e., with rich topsoil) or natural habitat for wildlife, is converted to developed uses, de facto permanently (Pimentel, et. al. Cornell).  And as Dr. V. Abernethy and Dr. Anne Brattain’s Research has shown, reducing immigration into the USA reduces the fertility rates in the sending countries, thus reducing the over-population pressures on Wildlife in those countries.

Unchecked population growth and over-population are clearly negatives for environmental protection.

Population growth and density also have negative effects on our Public Health and Personal Safety Environments. 

Thus, it is no accident that New York City and Environs and other major population centers were Ground Zero of the Coronavirus in the USA.

New York City is the most Densely Populated City in the USA and is a Major Hub for International Travel and Destination for Immigrants. Consider:

We’ve done the math and we’ve proved it,” said Dr. Peter Daszak, a disease ecologist and the president of Eco Health Alliance, who examined the link in a 2008 study published in the journal Nature…. Looking at contemporary outbreaks since the mid-20th century, Daszak and colleagues found that the emergent diseases caused by pathogens new to humans has increased significantly with time, even when controlling for progress in diagnosis techniques and surveillance ….”

Many of the newly threatening pathogens emerge where exploding human populations have intruded on the habitat of non-human species. Separation that formerly characterized human/animal interactions shifts into more intimate contacts. The pathogens jump from animal to human. The intensity of travel and population mixing then spreads disease globally.

The foregoing are Key  Reasons BALANCE pushes for an all-categories included Zero-NET Moratorium LEGAL Immigration Policy (about 150,000 out thus 150,000 in per year) —a de facto Moratorium. That would reduce Legal Immigration into the USA, which is currently about 1.5 to 1.6 Million per year. That would reduce the USA’s and the World’s Population Growth Rate (Fertility rates in countries allowed to send immigrants to the USA elevate because of the Opportunities that Immigration provides to the Migrants to the USA and to their families in the home country).

Other benefits would accrue if a Moratorium were enacted because  a number of additional costs flow from continuing to allow Mass Immigration.

Costs: U.S. Taxpayers Pay $330 BILLION PER YEAR NET (after subtracting taxes Immigrants pay) to pay for the federal costs of LEGAL Immigration alone (cf CCN Cost Study). That’s about $758 Million per Year Net (i.e., after subtracting Taxes Immigrants pay) per Congressional District for Health Care, Welfare, and many other Costs and does not include Net State and Local Costs.

So where do the Candidates stand on Immigration [Before answering that we must add that as a 501c3 Nonprofit BALANCE does NOT support or oppose candidates or parties,  but certainly can and does take a  position on their positions  on Key policy issues such as Immigration.  Therefore, consider:

This year: President Trump has ordered a Moratorium (albeit temporary) on admission of some Categories of  Immigrants, arguing, correctly, that Jobs and support should be reserved for the 30 Million+ unemployed Americans.

Unfortunately,  the Joe Biden/Kamala Harris Team is pushing a de facto Open Borders Agenda. To help us stop it, See Below. Their Agenda would:

·         allow work permits for Illegal Aliens and Not Require the Use of E-Verify

·         allow Chain Migration and the Visa Lottery to Continue

·         not deter Border Surges or Asylum Abuse

·         cause American Taxpayers to continue to pay for Health Care, Welfare for a majority of Legal Immigrants and Illegal Aliens

·         continue to allow Mass Immigration which would force millions of unemployed Americans to compete with Immigrants for Jobs

Worse, the Addition of Harris to V.P. Biden’s Ticket will magnify the pressure both before (and after!?!) the November 3rd Election to Enact an Expanded Open Borders Agenda, which would increase legal immigration and eliminate immigration enforcement!

Consider Harris’s Record:

·         cosponsor of Dick Durbin’s (D-IL) Keep the STEM Talent Act which would exempt any foreign student who earned an advanced degree in a STEM major from any numerical limits. As CCN and other studies have shown, the USA does not need foreign STEM workers…they just displace qualified Americans

·         cosponsor of Senator Lee’s (R-UT) Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act which would eliminate per-country caps on employment Visas and thus greatly benefit Silicon Valley’s policy of Hiring Low Paid Indian Workers (No wonder Big Tech has taken a pro-Biden position via Censorship).

·         enact a Mass Amnesty of DACA Aliens and implement DAPA to protect DREAMERS and their parents and give Temporary Protected Status for some foreign nationals who are not yet in the country

·         enact Senator Feinstein’s S175 the Agricultural Worker Program Act which would give illegal Farm Workers Amnesty

·         Harris has consistently opposed efforts at Border and Interior Enforcement by, e.g., supporting Senator Cory Booker’s (D-NJ) S144 which would halt local law enforcement cooperation with ICE for enforcement purposes

·         and she has pushed to decriminalize illegal border crossings

IMMIGRATION REDUCTION OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS LOUDLY—HOW TO SEIZE IT!

Last week, the Goodlatte Bill H.R.4760 failed by only 20 votes. It would have put the House on record as supporting “merit”-based legal immigration by ending the Visa Lottery, and  Chain Migration, and mandating e-Verify to reduce Illegal Immigration, but it would have at best cut Legal Immigration numbers by half still allowing over half a million Legal Immigrants per year.

The Goodlatte Bill received far more votes than sell-out Speaker Ryan's thinly disguised Amnesty Bill, which failed by a 2 to 1 Margin. 

So, given these two Failures, why does Opportunity knock loudly?

Consider:

The U.S. Government's next funding Bill needs to be passed by September 30 this year and is likely to incorporate $$$ Trillion Annual Deficits going Forward.

BALANCE's Strategy will be to publicize and push the fact that passing one single Bill  — a zero net MORATORIUM  Bill — would reduce costs to U.S Taxpayers by over one-half Trillion $$$ in the next decade.

Indeed, The NET (after subtracting taxes immigrants pay) Costs of LEGAL immigration of over 1.5 Million LEGAL Immigrants/year alone to U. S. Taxpayers are $330 Billion annually, as shown in a 2017 study by our ASAP Coalition Ally CCN. That's $1,000 per U.S. taxpayer per year!!!

Working in our favor is the fact that the Open Borders lobby has finally revealed its true colors.  These advocates are pushing for the elimination of ICE, which would go far toward creating Open Borders and vastly more illegal immigration — an anti-law, anti-American pro-Demographic Tsunami position.

Important to note is that, by taking such an extreme Position, the Left aims to create the maximum pressure in opposition to Immigration Reduction. They are employing an elementary principle of Negotiation — ask for more than you expect to get.

So, of course, we reductionists should continue to push the position which gives us most leverage for reductions — an all-categories-included zero-net MORATORIUM.

And our position is quite reasonable … it would still allow admission of about 150,000/year, and it does send BALANCE's Essential Message — Mass Immigration MUST END!!

So here is what to do:

Considering that the Mass Immigration Management Groups, i.e., those which refuse to support MORATORIUM (and which BTW have a Perfect two decades long record of Total Failure to get any reduction bill passed), patiently explain to them how they can actually help get a Reduction Bill passed as follows.

Consider that a Leading Management Group actually supports reducing Legal Immigration to 500,000/year and “eventually” to 300,000/year. This is COUNTERPRODUCTIVE not only because it creates ZERO political leverage to get reductions but also because it de facto SUPPORTS a continuation of Mass Immigration!  500,000 or even 300,000/year of legal immigration would result in unending population growth in the USA!

And an examination of that other “leading” Mass Immigration group's website reveals almost a sole focus on Illegal immigration and a neglect of Legal Immigration whose numbers are far, far greater.  Thus, refusing to focus on LEGAL immigration is COUNTERPRODUCTIVE to actually achieving any reductions.

It reminds one of the website (visit unfairus.org) erected a few years ago by Protect Arizona Now patriots who were not helped by the Management groups about whom PAN asked “Whose side are they on anyway?”

And regarding current Bills:

Although the RAISE Act S354 (Cotton R-AR, Perdue R-GA) has some good provisions, it contains Three Serious Flaws.

 The Good: It would:

• Reduce Legal Immigration by at least half to about 500,000 per year
• Require that Legal Immigrants speak English
• Require that Legal Immigrants NOT receive Welfare for 5 Years
• Limit “Refugees” to 50,000 per year
• End the Visa Lottery, and, above all…
• Reduce Chain Migration from appx 480,000 per year to appx. 88,000 per year by limiting family-sponsored Immigrants to spouses and minor children of US Citizens or Legal Permanent Residents.

HOWEVER, The Seriously Bad :(true of both the Cotton-Perdue and Goodlatte Bills!):

• would still allow over half a million Legal Entrants annually and thus Validate a continuation of Mass Immigration ad Infinitum—clearly Not Sustainable
• adopt a piecemeal Multi-Category approach that is extremely vulnerable to Many Weakening Amendments
• fails to push an all-categories-included 150,000 CAP

BALANCE’s Push for a Zero-Net Moratorium would not only impose such a CAP but it also maximizes Political Pressure to get Reductions. The RAISE Act Fails this Test.

And, one of the RAISE Bill's alleged strong points, the Merits-based system for admitting skilled workers (H1bs) is well-intentioned but would allow far too many admissions. It is based on flawed data that American workers do not have the necessary skills. It lends itself to “gaming”, and would result in continuing job loss and wage depression among American workers.

The Bill also would allow admission of too many “Refugees” (what about addressing the Needs of the USA’s hundreds of thousands of homeless first?) and allows H2b low skilled workers, many of whose prospective jobs should either go to Americans or are, in any case, disappearing because of automation.

Pushing an all-categories-included Zero-Net Moratorium (which would still allow Legal Immigration of 150,000 per Year because Immigration would then equal Emigration) is key as an objective because it is reasonable and Essential for long-term Environmental and Personal Protection and for providing Sufficient Resources, INCLUDING WATER and FOOD and Money, for survival. Today, we are in the process of exceeding our long-term Carrying Capacity.

In sum, a Zero-Net Moratorium is The Necessary Condition for achieving U.S. Population Stabilization, long term Environmental Protection, Budgetary Solvency in State and Local Government (especially for our Health Care and Educational Institutions), Tax Reduction, Unemployment Reduction, Social and Cultural Cohesion and Personal Safety ... and for protection of our Food and Water Supplies!

Only our Massive Grassroots Effort can Succeed! Phone Calls or Office Visits followed by Snail Mail letters are most effective (emails are often ignored and fax machines can be turned off). We wish no harm to come to children crossing the Border, either Illegally or Legally, but the question is how best to prevent the harm.   Before any consideration can be given to ending the  policy which separates adults from children, the Open Borders Crowd should be urged to answer a few key questions:    Are the adults and children really parent and child? It appears that many of these children are victims of a very profitable criminal human trafficking enterprises. For those children, separation from the adults who bring them is clearly child-protection. A sure way of finding the truth is to separate the adult from the child to ascertain their true relationship.   Unfortunately, separation of minor children from adults who bring them illegally across the US border is being used as leverage by the Open Borders Crowd to attack the legitimacy of Borders.  These Leftists are in fact exploiting these Children for their own political gain.  And why did these leftists not criticize President Obama who implemented the Separation Policy?   Where are these soft-hearted leftists on LBJ’s so-called “Great Society” that continues to force the separation of fathers from their families?   The US Welfare system was  set up in such a way that it destroys the family unit, with particularly devastating effect on poor and minority families.   How is USA to deter future Illegal crossings unless it stops adults and children, separates them, even if only temporarily?   Eliminating the separation requirement would only encourage more criminal  trafficking, thus increasing the risk for even more children, women and young adults.   It would also encourage the break-up of more families. Some parents are entrusting their minor children to criminal human trafficking gangs in the hope that the children will be able to assist their own immigration through “chain migration.” Instead, why not encourage families to unify in their country of origin?   Finally, do we not have the moral obligation to provide a Safe ENVIRONMENT and opportunities for our own needy children first?   Thousands of American children are separated from their parents, frequently with little justification,some without due process or on false information, and some to protect them from domestic violence. Where are the outraged leftists on this blatant injustice among our own citizens?   Preventing the trafficking of minors starts at our borders and acts as a deterrent. When traffickers are deterred, they subsequently lose the incentive to traffic children and adults. The process of separation and housing of suspected illegally trafficked children is costly but deterring traffickers will help to prevent the tragic abuse of vulnerable children and even greater costs in the future and the many women who are forced to  bring the minors with them and subsequently are trafficked themselves. Building The Wall ASAP! would help significantly. In California alone, thousands of families are living under freeway overpasses. Where are our priorities?   Speaker of the House Ryan is pushing a de facto Illegal Alien Amnesty Bill for Two Million to a vote early this coming week.   Help stop Ryan's outrageous Bill!!  Contact your Representatives NOW!!   Legal Immigration costs a NET (after subtracting the  taxes Legal immigrants pay) $330 BILLION per year or $1,000 annually for each U.S. Taxpayer!  Thats $758 Million per year for each Congressional District!     SOLUTION: We encourage you to push for an all-categories-included Zero-Net Moratorium on Legal Immigration, including  requirements that the Border Wall be funded, chain migration, Birthright Citizenship, and the Visa Lottery  ended,  and e-Verify be mandated.   The world's population increases by 80 MILLION per year and the pressure to come to the United States will only increase, with disastrous implications for the Environment, Natural Habitats and Resources including especially the loss of prime agricultural land (one acre for each person added to the U.S population -- Pimentel et. al.
